I’m late! Oh well…
The government has put us into complete lock down yet, which is kind of surprising but don’t be surprised if it happens soon. HOWEVER, that does not mean you should ignore isolation and social distancing guidelines. That being said, the government is still letting people go out under the pretense of exercise.
The general recommendation is 30 minutes of activity a day. Some people get that in their average work day and others do that as a warm-up, regardless of your stance on the matter, it’s an excuse to get out of the house, granted you continue to follow the government’s guidelines on gatherings. Preferably, you do you morning walk alone, but you are allowed a buddy; though we still recommend that you keep 1.5 meters between you.
Your other option for company on your daily walk, you are allowed to take other members of your family. This only pertains to those already living under the same roof as you—You’re already sharing space and germs with them and don’t want to spread it to those outside your house; or risk them spreading it to you.
So if you enjoy going for a hike, biking, or similar forms of exercising, you can still go out and do those things, just be aware that you must do them solo, with a single buddy, or with the people you live with. If we do end up going into complete lock down, you can still exercise in your yard, but after the fourth or fifth lap, it might become mundanely repetitive. On the other hand, if you don’t like exercising, like me, you don’t have to go outside at all…In fact it’s recommended—But you should probably try to get up an stretch your legs periodically.
So keep up the exercise while you can, but remember to practice social distancing. Also consider that we may go into lock down, so you should consider exercise alternatives when that comes around.
